About StreamAfri

StreamAfri is a streaming service for Ethiopian and Pan-African film, series, documentary, and artist-led live sessions. It exists because the work is already being made — and the people most likely to want it are watching on a mid-range Android phone, on mobile data, on a connection that does not hold 1080p.
Our mission
To make African film, series, and music the easiest thing to watch on an African phone — licensed from the people who made it, priced for the people watching it, and engineered to play on the networks they actually have.
Our vision
A continent where a filmmaker in Addis Ababa, Lagos, or Nairobi can reach a paying audience across Africa and its diaspora without routing through a foreign platform that treats their work as a regional footnote. We want StreamAfri to be the default place that work lives, and a route through which money returns to the people who made it.
How we work
Built for the network people have
Every title is encoded down to 240p and 360p before anything else, and the player starts on the rung the connection can carry. A service that only works on fibre is not a service for this continent.
Licensed, and paid for
Films, series, and sessions arrive through signed agreements with the filmmakers and artists who made them. Creators keep their credit on every page their work appears on.
Amharic first, not translated last
The catalog is Amharic and English today, and the interface, search, and metadata are designed to carry more African languages as the library grows.
For home and for the diaspora
One catalog serves viewers in Addis Ababa and viewers abroad who want to keep up with the work coming out of home.
Where we are today
StreamAfri is in beta. Part of the catalog is live now and part is licensed and still being prepared for streaming — those titles are marked Coming soon on their pages, and you can save them to your list so they are waiting when they land. Streaming is free during the beta.
